I am an experienced clinical psychologist with a general practice in the Upper Valley, seeing individuals ranging from adolescents to elders, spanning all walks of life. I work with people facing a wide range of issues related to anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relational conflicts, co-parenting, life transitions, infertility, LGBTQ issues, grief and loss, attention and focus, and chronic illness.
My intention is that those who choose to work with me will feel a sense of security and safety that will support the, at times challenging, work of therapy. I listen closely, help clients understand issues interfering with their lives, and assist them in developing strategies to lead more satisfying and vibrant lives. If the work involves couples or family members in conflict, the focus becomes that of communication and increased interpersonal awareness.
My treatment orientation is a combination of psychodynamic work and cognitive behavior approaches when appropriate. In some cases the work is trauma focused, in others it may relate to grief and loss. In many instances the introduction of mindfulness and meditation has been effective. As I work with individuals I am sorting through their unique combination of historical, temperamental, and biological variables. The therapy is an active collaboration between me and my clients, discovering the approaches and techniques that feel safe and comfortable yet strong and effective enough to lead to positive changes.
